Putting people before party politics
Bedford is a great place to live and work with a long and prestigious history, its great schools, fantastic embankment and its warm and friendly people. But for all of Bedford’s qualities, life for those who live and work here is getting harder.
Bedford Council achieved a lot over the last seven years under Frank Branston, but there’s a good deal more to be done. The residents of this borough need and deserve another Independent Mayor. We need a mayor who is committed to openness, accountability and free of party political control.
I am passionate about being Independent. Like many of you, I am disenchanted with what the major political parties have to offer. No political party has a monopoly on good ideas and I believe that good local government depends on people who listen to advice, argue, and debate, are capable of arriving at sensible decisions based on their merits and are not driven by a higher party allegiance.
My ambition is to make Bedford a safer, cleaner and more prosperous place to live. Encouraging new investment, creating employment and to see our residents having a greater say in how the services they pay for are delivered, and those services being more responsive to you and your family.
As your Mayor I want Bedford Borough Council benefiting you and your family. Not penalising you through high council tax increases and poor local services.
